Hannah Blanton, Counselor

Hannah Blanton

Counselor

Hannah grew up in Rome and is thankful for the opportunity to be back, serving as a counselor in the town she loves so dearly. In her years away, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development from Samford University, Master of Arts in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary, and training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR.) In addition to her academic background, part of Hannah’s personal story has also prepared her for her work as a counselor. When she was sixteen years old, her mom died very unexpectedly. She and her family experienced shock, heartbreak, and many life changes following that tragedy. In her college years, she learned what panic attacks felt like and began her own counseling journey. While Hannah’s story isn’t the same one as yours, she wishes to emphasize that she is still a human who is familiar with feelings of deep disappointment and confusion, and she truly believes that hope and peace can exist amidst hurt and despair.

If you are experiencing (or have experienced) grief, loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, loneliness, life transition, spiritual issues, self-image concerns, identity issues, or simply have a desire to have someone tend to your tired heart and mind, you’re in the right place. You are already doing some of the hardest work simply by searching for a stranger to share your heaviness with—not an easy thing to do! Hannah’s desire is to facilitate a safe, compassionate, steady place for you to acknowledge and engage with challenging parts of your story. Though the personal work of counseling can feel awkward, exposing, and painful at times, her hope is that this hard work will lead to you experiencing the rich healing, freedom, restoration, and peace that really is available to you. Hannah enjoys meeting with adolescents, teens, young adults, and not-that-young adults.

When she is not in the office, you can find Hannah planning her next trip around the world, hiding in her hammock somewhere, planning a social gathering with friends (probably karaoke), talking about the Enneagram, fondly remembering her barista days while sipping coffee, or binge-watching crime shows on Netflix. She is a lover of people and sincerely looks forward to getting to know you!
